Why these files exist
Batch rename works in steps and keeps a journal. If the computer crashes or loses power in the middle, some files can temporarily carry names starting with .rename. They are your files, not copies. The next time NativeActions starts, it restores the original names automatically and tells you when it has done so.
If recovery needs your help
- Do not delete or rename files that start with .rename.; they belong to the interrupted batch.
- Close apps that might have those files open.
- If you reused one of the original names for a different file in the meantime, move that file to another folder.
- Open NativeActions again. New renames are paused until recovery succeeds.
After recovery
Once the original names are back, run the rename again. If a message keeps asking for attention, contact support@nativeactions.com and describe what happened; you do not need to send your files.
