Help recognition

Text recognition uses Windows OCR on your computer. It works best with sharp, straight text and good contrast. “No readable text was found in this image” means Windows did not recognise any words. Crop around the text, use a sharper screenshot or scan at a higher resolution, and try again.

Install an OCR language

  1. Open Settings → Time & language → Language & region.
  2. Choose Add a language and select the language of the text.
  3. Make sure optical character recognition is included in the language features, then install it.
  4. Run Copy text from image again.

Other messages

“The image is too large for Windows OCR” means the picture exceeds what Windows can analyse; resize it first. “Another app is using the clipboard” means the text was recognised but could not be copied yet; choose copy again.
