Most tools create a result
Conversion, resizing, compression and PDF editing normally produce a separate file or folder. Keep the original until you have inspected the result, particularly after a lossy conversion.
Renaming is different
Batch rename and extension rename act on the selected names. They do not create converted copies. Review the preview carefully before applying a naming change.
Clipboard tools
Copy name, path, directory and checksum do not edit file contents. OCR copies recognized text from an image. A later copy action replaces the current clipboard contents.
