Make the icon
Select the source image and choose NativeActions → Convert → ICO. Use the result in the Windows application or shortcut workflow that accepts icon files.
Choose suitable artwork
Start with a simple square symbol and some space around it. Tiny text, very thin lines and busy photographic details can become unreadable when the icon is displayed small.
Check real sizes
The ICO tool converts the artwork; it does not redesign it. Inspect the result at the sizes required by your destination and keep the source image for revisions. Use Resize separately if you need to prepare the input dimensions.
